Family Programs

We are responsible for the following three events. The Back-To-School Social which in evening of games, activities, crafts, and food for school families to get back together at the beginning of the school year. Caring and Sharing is a program which involves the school families and children to give back to the community through volunteering of their time and donations. Last, the End of

Year Pool Party for a final fare-well to the students.

Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality Committee is comprised of four volunteers that organize and obtain the necessary provisions for various functions throughout the school year.  The basic responsibility of the committee is to "set up" and "clean up" at the various PTA and social functions.  The committee is responsible for preparing the meeting site and providing refreshments for the monthly Board Meetings and the PTA Meetings.  The committee also organizes the New Parents' Social; held in September,  and the Teachers' Luncheon; held in February. We recruit and communicate with the volunteers enlisted on our Baking Committee.  They are called upon to bake for the numerous social functions throughout the year.

PTA Programs

The purpose of PTA Programs is to provide speakers on a variety of topics to teachers and parents during the PTA meetings and as requested by the Principal or the PTA President.  The chairperson is also required to design and submit for distribution all flyers announcing all PTA meetings.

Another responsibility of the chairperson is to organize the short story and poetry contest.  The chairperson is responsible for announcing the contest, collecting and organizing all entries, distributing them to the judges, preparing certificates and ribbons, and announcing the winners at the awards assembly.

Publicity Committee

The OLGC PTA Publicity Committee publicizes school and PTA events by supplying photos and articles to the Counsel Courier, The Monitor and area newspapers.

Our purpose is to provide the school with positive publicity, to aid recruitment by allowing our message to be heard by the public, to advertise fund-raising events so attendance and donations are increased, and to do so at no cost to the school or PTA.

Room Mothers

There are two Room Mother chairs on the PTA board at Our Lady Of Good Counsel. They help with the selection of 2 -3 room mothers per classroom (depending on the grade). The Co-Chairs split their responsibility between

(K-4) and (5-8). At the beginning of the school year the room mother chairs hold an instructional meeting for the chosen room mothers to go over their duties and to answer any questions they may have.

The room mothers are in charge of calling all school families and verifying phone numbers and contact information. They assist the school in any phone chain calls that may arise during the school year. This includes both emergency and weather related closings.

The room mothers also help organize volunteers for school field days, the fun walk, the presidential fitness tests and other various school activities. They may also be asked to assist the classroom teacher in scheduling their conferences. The room mothers are responsible for the collection of monies for the classroom parties and the teacher gifts. (Christmas and end of the year) They help the teacher with any supplies needed for the classroom parties. They are available to help the PTA board and the faculty with any other volunteers that may be needed throughout the school year.

Spiritual Development:

The primary role of Spiritual Development is to communicate prayer requests and provide prayers to the school community.  Prayer requests are distributed in the monthly prayer chain and via e-mail.  Monthly prayer meetings are also arranged by Spiritual Development.  PTA meetings begin with a prayer service that has been complied by Spiritual Development.  Spiritual Development organizes and manages the Religious Goods Fair.  Religious articles are sold at the fair and it is attended by all the students once a year.   The Thanksgiving Bread Wrap is organized by Spiritual Development.  Every student at Good Counsel receives blessed bread at the Thanksgiving prayer service to be shared with their families on Thanksgiving.

Voucher program/PTA Participation Plan

The goal of the PTA Participation Plan is two-fold:
